Mission Statement
The Swaziland National Archives promotes National identity, protects personal and public rights of Swazis and promotes efficiency, accountability and transparency of government through the preservation of public records of research value regardless of format and historical information on Swaziland for use in the government and the people of Swaziland.

Vision
The vision of the Department is to provide the highest standards Records and Archives Management Services and to increase public awareness on the importance of documentary heritage in the Swazi nation.

Objectives

  • To preserve public and non-public records with enduring value for use by the public and government regardless of format
  • To promote the preservation of both library and archival materials in the country
  • To ensure the proper management and care of all public records by setting standards and professional guidelines to government registries and record centres
  • To collect and preserve information on Swaziland through a legal deposit Act
  • To document aspects of the nation's experience that are not covered by the country's records when need arise and repatriate migrated archives
  • To maintain national registers on non-public records with enduring value and promote cooperation and co-ordination between institutions having custody of such records once produced
  • To promote an awareness of Archives and Records Management services
