Government approves E6.5 million for Refugee Centre
MALINDZA: The Minister of Home Affairs Her Royal Highness Princess Tsandzile has commended Government for approving E6.5 million to rehabilitate the Malindza Refugee Reception Centre.
Speaking during her visit to the centre, the Minister noted that the previous reception centre had deteriorated due to old housing structures.
“It is of note that history is being made that a local female contractor is responsible for the construction of the building to accommodate local refugees and efforts to finish before deadline are being made,” she said.
She added that improving living conditions for refugees is part of her Ministry’s responsibilities and thus the Ministry will ensure that refugees’ safety in the country is upheld.
Also speaking during the same visit was UNICEF country representative Rachel Odede who also pledged their support for all children in the Kingdom of Swaziland.
“We are grateful to the Kingdom of Swaziland’s Government for providing this facility to the children of the world irrespective of where they come from,”
