Composition of the Citizenship Board

Established by Section 13 of the Citizenship act with functions of :

-         Granting, , refusing or revoking citizenship by Registration;

-         Investigating and where appropriate revoking the citizenship under section 9 of Citizenship Act;

-         Advising Minister on any other aspects relating to citizenship

-         Advise the Citizenship Board Secretariat to invite any person to attend and participate in the deliberations of a board meeting

Secretariat

Provides the office of the Chief Immigration Officer with services relating to planning, programming, and advising the general public on the operations of the Citizenship office and Board . This division is directly under the Chief Immigration Officer division.

Functions of the Citizenship Secretariat

  1. Receive all the application filed for citizenship;

  2. Cause the publication of matters which amongst them include acknowledgement receipts, letters , certificates as required by law;

  3. Receive processing and other administrative fees receipts in connection with the application;

  4. Records the proceeding of the Citizenship applications;

  5. Keep and maintain all the books necessary for the recording of such papers and documents;

  6. Communicate to the applicants matters relating to their application; and,

  7. Perform such other function as may be required by the Citizenship Board

CLASSES OF CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION

C1- APPLICANTS ABOVE 21 YEARS

Requirements

-         Application form

-         Finger Prints ( from nearest police station)

-         Covering letter

-         Residence Permit/ Khonta letter from chief/ Birth certifuicate ( certified)

-         Two passport sized photos

-         E500 pre application fee paid at revenue office in the Ministry of Home Affairs

-         Non –Swazi Pin

CLASS C2- WOMEN MARRIED TO A SWAZI CITIZEN BY BIRTH

Requirements

-         Application form

-         Finger prints

-         Covering letter from husband

-         Husband birth or citizenship certificate ( certified copy)

-         Marriage Certificate

-         Two passport sized photos

-         Amount E100 for pre application

-         Both pins ( husband and wife)

CLASS C-3- APLLICANT BELOW 21 YEARS

-         Application form

-         Birth Certificate

-         Parents Citizenship status

-         Two passport sized photos

-         Pre- Application fee E500

-         Non- Swazi Pin
