MINISTER UNVEILS SWAZI AIRWAYS NEW BOARD

The Minister for Public Works and Transport Ps. Lindiwe Dlamini on the 22nd September 2016 announced the appointment of new board members for Swazi Airways, a government public enterprise formerly known as Royal Swazi National Airways Corporation (RSNAC) after the previous boards term of office came to an end.
The new board is expected to facilitate the acquisition of a wholly Swazi owned aircraft and provide scheduled air services. In her speech, Dlamini highlighted that the new board has a mammoth task which is to craft the strategic plan for the organization and put the Kingdom of Swaziland on the worlds civil aviation map. Dlamini stressed that knowledge and strategic focus is necessary to drive the organization to its desired vision.
The new board members include; Chief Technical Officer at Swazi MTN Winile Thembi Mkhonto (Chairperson), Chairman of Inyatsi Construction Frans Pienaar, Jigg’s Thorne, Makhosi Vilakati, PS Makhosini Mndawe, Mndeni Nelson Mazibuko, and Thabisile Mlangeni.
The Minister addressing the media during the press briefing further stated that SWACAA is processing Swazi Airways Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and is working hard to ensure that the country meets the International Civil Aviation Organizations standards. Dlamini further commended SWACAA for her commitment and continued dedication for the organizations progress towards meeting ICAO standards.
The Minister said Swazi Airways long awaited flight aircraft is expected to land soon to enable SWACAA to conduct necessary inspections and tests. Government’s commitment is to grow the airline into a global giant in the aviation industry as the country works towards vision 2022.
